Congratulations to Matthew Saville (GD Narrative, 1998) who won two awards – for best direction in a TV mini series for Cloudstreet and best direction in a TV drama series for The Slap. Emma Freeman (BFTV, 2000) won best direction in a telemovie for 'Hawke' and Kathy Chambers (BFTV, 1984) and Ken Connor won best direction in TV reality program/light entertainment for RocKwiz – On the Road. Creative Australia Fellowships

Artist Kate Just, Lecturer in Painting at the VCA, is well known for creating tactile sculptures and installations reinterpreting historic, mythic and iconographic objects and figures often linked to women's histories. ‘Kate Just: The Knitted Works 2004-2011’ is an exhibition presented at Ararat Regional Art Gallery from 17 May - 8 July.

Percussionist Alex Pertout, Head of Contemporary Music Performance at the VCA and vocalist Nilusha Dassenaike (BFineArt 1997, BMusPerf 2004) have released a new contemporary jazz album Moments in Time. It has been featured as album of the week on ABC Jazz , on Radio National's The Inside Sleeve and received a four star review in The Age.
Glyn Roberts nominated for Patrick White Playwrights’ Award

Current Master of Writing for Performance student, Glyn Roberts has been shortlisted for the 2011 Patrick White Playwrights’ Award with his work Triangle. Past winners include alumni Angus Cerini (BCA, 2000), Melissa Bubnic (GradDipFTV, 2005) and current VCA lecturer in Writing for Performance Raimondo Cortese (DipDramArts, 1993).
